Far out in the backyard of a popular end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small but very powerful yellow sun. That sun sends energy in the form of light to a small blue green planet called Earth. On this planet called Earth that suns bright glow provides energy to grow wine grapes. In a place called Naches Heights, great wine grapes are grown. From these grapes, great wines are being made and now they are available to you. Enjoy the wine and the sun.
Naches Heights Vineyard is perched on the southwest plateau high above the beautiful Naches Valley. This area was formed over 1.5 million years ago when a lava flow poured in from the Goat Rocks Wilderness area to the west. Soils formed on this plateau consisting of windblown loess known as Tieton loam. Our elevation at NHV up at 1800 feet places us as one of the highest elevated vineyards in the state. The high elevation (closer to the sun) combined with the rich volcanic soil creates unique growing conditions for our wine grapes.
Naches Heights Vineyard currently produces eight grape varietals; Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Grunner Veltliner, Albarino, Gewürztraminer, Tempranillo and Syrah. With farming in the Cline family’s blood for eighty years, the NHV site has been in Cline stewardship for 40 years.
Our passion for the land and our environment translated a past life or plum, apricots and apples into a happy, healthy vineyard – your palate will approve of our attention to detail in the growing of wine grapes on this sunny, volcanic site. Wonderful wines are born of wonderful grapes. It is our wish that you will find the pleasure in life that NHV wines portray.
